Dr. Saundra Buys, MD

Dr. Buys is Chief of the Division on Oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer research centers and hospitals in the United States. She is also a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program.

She has cared for patients with all types of cancer since 1982 and specializes in breast cancer. She is co-leader of the metastatic breast cancer support group at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

For the past several decades, Dr. Buys has been the Principal Investigator in NCI-funded research investigating the utility of cancer screening (including the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, Ovarian Screening Trial and the National Lung Screening Trial) and genetic predisposition to breast cancer (including the Breast Cancer Family Registry, based in six international sites including Utah, and the LEGACY Girls' Study).
